United StatesHi Beautiful People!
I am running the California Disneyland Half Marathon August 31st to help children with cancer beat the odds. Please help me reach my goal of $1,000.00! I’m running for Team Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation that focuses on raising money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily research into new treatments and cures.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised more than $80 million to help:
· Fund more than 450 cutting-edge research projects
· Create a travel program to help support families of children receiving treatment
· Develop resources to help people everywhere affected by childhood cancer
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is the living embodiment of Alexandra "Alex" Scott’s spirit of determination and hope exemplifying the saying: “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade”.
Alex was born in 1996 and diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. On her first birthday, the doctors informed Alex's parents that if she beat her cancer it was doubtful that she would ever walk again. By her second birthday, Alex was crawling and able to stand up with leg braces. She appeared to be beating the odds, until the shattering discovery that her tumors had started growing again. The day after her fourth birthday, Alex received a stem cell transplant and informed her mother, "when I get out of the hospital I want to have a lemonade stand." She said she wanted to give the money to doctors to allow them to "help other kids, like they helped me." Alex held her first lemonade stand later that year with the help of her older brother and raised $2,000 for "her hospital." Moved by her story, people from all over the world held their own lemonade stands and donated the proceeds to Alex and her cause. Alex passed away august 2004 at 8 years old.
In honor of Alex and kids like her, please hold your own lemonade stand and then make your TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION (online or check) by clicking on the link below through my secure fundraising website. It’s easy and quick!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me; and thanks so much for taking the time to help kids with cancer beat the odds. Have a beautiful day!!! xoxo Teri
