The Jewell Research Lab in the Bioengineering Department at the University of Maryland is working on vaccines for pediatric cancer like those that Alex’s Lemonade Stand is fighting. Our research team wants to get the word out about pediatric cancer and some of the opportunities to apply bioengineering and nanotechnology to improve treatments for these cancers. As part of Alex’s Lemonade Stand during the Foundation’s National Lemonade Days initiative (June 6-8, 2014) we’ll be on Bethesda Row in Bethesda to talk about cancer research, how nanotechnology can help, give out stickers, balloons, and other goodies, and of course, offer lemonade for donations to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation! The stand will be held by the fountain near Barnes and Noble on 4801 Bethesda Ave., Bethesda, MD beginning at 11:30am on Sunday, 6/8/2014.
