United StatesA few months ago I set a goal to run my own private marathon in memory of Alexandra Scott who passed away from cancer back in 2004 at the age of 8. Before she died, she made it her mission to hold lemonade stands in my neighborhood hoping to collect enough money to help build a hospital for other kids who have cancer.
So on April 13, 2013, I woke up at 4:30 a.m., suited up and then headed outside to run 26.2 miles (a full marathon) in her honor. I have been part of Team Lemon in the past (for the 2010 Philadelphia Marathon and for the Broad Street Run), but today I wanted to do something different. I wanted to show how one person can simply decide to get up, run and ask friends, families and the kindness of strangers to donate to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.
Will you give up one or two days of Starbucks and make a donation to help honor Alex's memory and to assist the foundation in finding cures for cancer?
Please make a donation to help out. If all of us give a little bit and help to make a difference, we can help other children who are suffering from cancer. Please, please help me to help them.
For those wondering about the foundation: At least $.88 cents of every dollar donated goes to cancer research.
Thank you.
