United StatesHi Friends and Family -
I am running for Alex's Lemonade Stand this October in the Chicago Marathon. I am running for this charity because they do something wonderful...they raise money to battle childhood cancer. The founder, Alex, was 4 when she started raising money for "her hospital" and cancer by selling lemonade in her front yard. She was first diagnosed at age 1, the cancer came back when she was 4, and she lost the battle at only 8 years old. But she was a determined little girl, fought bravely, and made a huge difference...her annual lemonade stand sales raised over $1 million alone to help find a cure. Her legacy now lives on through children and people all over raising money through their own lemonade stands like me...mine just happens to be a virtual one. :) We have two little boys who we are blessed with every day...we are so lucky. When Horatio Sebastian was 2, he had a girlfriend, Emma, who found out she had stage 4 cancer. It was a frightening experience, but she is courageous and a true fighter. Happily now she is the same happy, smiling little girl full of life and energy like she always has been. It made me think though...can't take anything for granted. We are super lucky and would love to do everything I can to help change the world for little kids out there who are bravely fighting their own battles. So thank you in advance for chipping in whatever you can...no amount is too small! And wish me luck as I run 26 miles! :)
