Why Kohl's Champions?

Our Story

Kohl's Champions, previously Kick-It, is a program powered by Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) and a national volunteer-driven effort focused solely on raising money for childhood cancer research. We are passionate, efficient and committed to directing every possible dollar to research.

Kohl's Champions History

During his second battle with cancer, 10-year-old Quinn Clarke of Chagrin Falls, Ohio asked his parents if he could have a kickball game to raise money for research. He was shocked when more than 500 people came to support him. That afternoon has inspired people from across the country and as far away as Hawaii and Australia to help save the lives of children with cancer.

In 2012, Ohio All-State football player, Matt Colella, who battled cancer as a middle school student, started the Kick-It program, by asking others to pledge a dollar amount for each point he made as his team’s kicker, or to make a one-time donation towards his fundraising goal. His commitment to help others inspired his community and athletes around the country to become what is now known as Kohl's Champions and Champions for Kids with Cancer.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation's Story

The Kick-It program has co-funded projects with ALSF in the past, so the partnership seemed natural given their collective goal of curing all childhood cancers. ALSF is honored that the founders of Kick-It (now Kohl’s Champions) have entrusted them to continue Quinn’s program and the amazing work they have accomplished to support childhood cancer research.
