Learn More »Lylah Coghill was born a tough little girl! Her birth was difficult, as she was born by C-section. This was a blessing because inside her tummy was a 10" by 4" tumor on her liver. Lylah was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma at only 5 days old! She went directly from the hospital where she was born in Alaska to Seattle Children's Hospital the very next day. Children's remained her home for almost three months. Lylah underwent her first round of chemotherapy when she was 10 days old! Her second round happened three weeks later. To our amazement, Lylah did not get sick from the chemotherapy. Lylah had surgery to remove the tumor and the entire right lobe of her liver and gallbladder when she was less than two months old! Lylah recovered from her surgery quickly, but soon after doctors found a clot in her liver. For the next 4 months we had to give her two injections of medicine each day to make sure the clot went away. When Lylah was almost three months old she got to come home for the first time! Lylah received two more chemotherapy treatments in Alaska. In February 2010, she went into remission and today continues to be in remission! She is my hero and an inspiration to many! She started out life very sick, but today lives every day like it is her last! She is happy, rarely complains and is a blessing to everyone she meets! She is a true childhood cancer hero!
