On December 1st, 2010 Elijah first went to the doctor and then was sent to the ER because he was pale. Later that day he was diagnosed with leukemia. Elijah spent the next 45 days in the hospital being treated for leukemia as well as other infections. Elijah was then sent home and has since been going through treatment as an outpatient. Today almost 11 months into treatment, Elijah looks and acts like most 4-year-olds. He runs, plays, and pretends like the rest of his friends, but he takes chemotherapy daily, weekly, and monthly and will continue until February 2014. Since Elijah is receiving chemo he has a weakened immune system and is at a much higher risk of catching an illness than most of his peers.
