Learn More »Bella is an energetic, outgoing 8 year old who loves to sing, dance and create stories starring her favorite Monster High dolls. She loves all things “girly,” the sparklier the better, and her favorite color is hot pink.
On Christmas Day 2012, Bella ran into a table and was hurt. Her parents thought she had broken her leg, but it turned out to be something worse. X-rays and further scans showed that she had osteosarcoma in her right femur that had already metastasized to her lungs.
Bella underwent nearly a year of chemotherapy, radiation, two lung surgeries and a surgery to remove the tumor from her leg and replace it with a prosthetic piece. She is nearing the end of her treatment and hopes that soon she will be able to resume her ballet and tap classes and take up softball.
Bella had always wanted to be a “baby doctor” and spending so much time in the hospital this past year has reinforced that dream. However, she would also like to be a Broadway star in her free time!
Bella’s mom describes the cancer treatment process as so tough and disheartening, but faith, family and friends have been the greatest supports. She says, “Bella has shown so much bravery through this trying time and endured so much with a smile on her face. She is steadfastly getting though so much.”
Hero quote: "If I can beat Candy Crush, I can beat cancer."
