Research Grant Program

Thank you for your interest in The Million Mile (TMM)! We are so grateful for all you do for children with cancer in and outside of your lab and clinic.

Please review the below which outlines TMM Research Grant Program and its unique eligibility requirements. Once a Researcher Team is created, you will hear from us within a week to confirm your team is set up correctly. If you do not receive an email, please contact [email protected]

Eligibility

The following must be met to be invited to apply for TMM Research Grant Program:

  • TMM Team Captain must be a current or former ALSF grantee (PI, Co-PI, COE Scholar), or be a member of the ALSF Scientific Review Board or Scientific Advisory Board.
  • When registering, the Team Captain must select ‘ALSF-Funded Researcher’ (see below). Other Team members may select the option appropriate for them. Be sure your team appears on the 2024 Million Mile- ALSF Researcher Leaderboard – this is the first step to being eligible for TMM Researcher Grant!
  • Team must have active team members who log miles and raise funds. 
  • TMM Team Captain must have all prior years’ final reports submitted.

Potential Grant Funding

Researcher Million Mile Teams who meet the criteria will be invited to apply for a research grant. Applications must be focused on childhood cancers and will only be accepted from US or Canadian institutions.

Potential funding is outlined below:

  • Team must raise a minimum of $2,500. Funds can be raised online or mailed to ALSF c/o Marvin Gonzalez, 333 E. Lancaster Ave, #414, Wynnewood, PA 19096
  • Sponsor promotions/matches that occur in September will count toward the $2,500 minimum.
  • Maximum sponsor promotions/matches per team is $30,000.
  • ALSF will match funds raised up to $30,000. The basis for this match will be funds raised by the team and will not include any sponsor promotions/matches.
  • ALSF must receive all donations by October 31, 2024 to count toward the potential grant.

TMM Researcher Grant Application Process

  • In November, all Researcher Million Mile Teams will receive an email with:
    • Summary of funds raised and maximum amount for grant application, if eligible.
    • Guidelines/outline for grant application.
    • Instructions on how to submit the application and due date.
  • Applications will be reviewed, and researchers will be notified by the end of 2024.
     
  • Paperwork associated with an approved grant will include the following grant requirements.
