Help Us End Childhood Cancer: Your Get-Involved Guide for June

Happy June! June kicks off the 20th anniversary of Lemonade Days at Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). All month long, we commemorate the early lemonade stands hosted by our founder, Alex Scott, and celebrate all the amazing supporters who host lemonade stands in their front yards, at their businesses, in parks, at events, and everywhere (including all 50 states).

We know June is a busy month for everyone. Bookmark this list of “can’t miss” events – from lemonade stands coast-to-coast to culinary events and, of course, Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand at her former elementary school in suburban Philadelphia. This handy guide will make your June sweet like lemonade as you help to fund childhood cancer research, support families as they travel to treatment, and end childhood cancer.

June 1: Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand

The event that started it all, Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand, honors the life and legacy of our founder, Alex Scott. Hosted at Alex’s old school, Penn Wynne Elementary, friends and family will gather to celebrate a meaningful day of fun, food, and festivities. Alex’s annual lemonade stand is a compilation of food, games, crafts, raffles, races, and sweet lemonade sips. Everyone also gathers for a beautiful butterfly release to commemorate and celebrate the lives of all children affected by cancer.

June 1-30: Lemonade Days

This annual tradition began when 8-year-old Alex wanted to raise $1 million for “her doctors” to help kids fighting cancer, like her. Her belief inspired others to take a stand for the cause to help her reach that goal before she passed away in 2004. Each year since, Lemonade Days continues to raise a million and much more!

In 2024, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first Lemonade Days, we expanded the event to the entire month of June. Pick any day (or days) in June to participate and help make this year the biggest Lemonade Days yet.

Super busy this June? Instead of hosting a lemonade stand now, you can schedule one for any time of the year. Maybe a Fourth of July lemonade stand at local fireworks or block parties? Or plan a stand for August or September to kick off Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Or look ahead to October and plan your lemonade-themed trunk-or-treat! You can register one at any time, here.

June 7-8: Midwest Lemonade Days

Since 2004, Hy-Vee Supermarkets have supported ALSF through their participation in Midwest Lemonade Days, resulting in more than $2 million raised to fight childhood cancer.

What started as one store has blossomed into a community effort throughout Kansas and Missouri, with 23 Hy-Vee locations hosting lemonade stands annually. Wanting to do more than host lemonade stands throughout the year, Hy-Vee has championed all children affected by childhood cancer throughout the community by integrating the Foundation's mission into several of their marketing initiatives and sponsorships.

June 8: The Great Chefs Event Philadelphia

Kick off summer with the 2024 Great Chefs Event Philadelphia! The event is the original ALSF culinary event hosted by Chef Marc Vetri and his business partner, Jeff Benjamin. More than 30 superstar chefs from across the country will come together under one roof and serve their signature tasting dishes at this family-friendly event. Guests will have the chance to taste delectable food, bid on fabulous auction items and celebrate 16 years of this amazing event, alongside their favorite chefs.

June 20: Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope Telethon

The CBS Philadelphia Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope Telethon is an annual day-long fundraiser celebrating the life of Alex Scott and all children affected by childhood cancer. It includes stories from childhood cancer families, researchers, favorite CBS personalities and an airing of the Emmy award-winning documentary Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope which tells the heartwarming story of Alex and the Foundation that bears her name.

Hosted by CBS Philadelphia, on-air personalities interview Liz and Jay Scott, childhood cancer hero families and others to share with viewers the incredible impact that ALSF funding can have on children battling cancer. Tune in to this year’s telecast for a full day of inspiration. ALSF staff will be available to take your call all day from 6 am until 8 pm Eastern by calling 866-333-1213. You can also text “CBSALEX” to 44321 to donate.
