5 Meaningful Ways to Give Back this Holiday Season and Support the Fight Against Childhood Cancer with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation

Brynn, pictured above, was just 2 years old when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After her initial treatment failed, Brynn found a cure in a clinical trial funded by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). You can fund more trials like this by supporting ALSF this year.

As the year comes to close, many of us are searching for meaningful ways to give back and help those in need. This year, you can join the movement to find safer treatments and cures for childhood cancer with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). Since 2005, ALSF has funded more than 1,500 research grants. It is an amazing accomplishment, made possible by supporters everywhere.

But, there is still more work to be done. Cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease for children in the United States. In low-and middle-income countries, the survival rate can be as low as 30%. There is an urgent need for more research, more effective treatments, and more cures.

And you can help fill that need this year. Whether you want to make a direct donation, get involved in fundraising or turn your holiday shopping into a way to give back, there is an option for everyone! Together, we can help kids with cancer. Here are five meaningful ways to support ALSF and help kids this holiday season:

1. Make a Direct Donation

One of the most straightforward ways to contribute is by making a financial donation to ALSF. Your gift will go directly toward funding cutting-edge research, supporting families affected by childhood cancer, and helping the Foundation continue its vital work. Donations of any size make a difference, and regular contributions help ensure ongoing support for kids with cancer. And don’t forget, get your 2024 donations in the mail or completed online by midnight on December 31 to count for this tax year!

Insider tip: Double (or triple) your impact with company matching gifts. Take advantage of your company's annual employee matching. Many companies match employees’ charitable contributions, doubling (sometimes even tripling!) the impact of a gift to ALSF. You can search your employer’s name, here.  If your employer is not on this list, ask your human resources representative to see if a company match is possible.

2. Plan a Lemonade Stand or Other Fundraising Event

Hosting a fundraising event is a great way to spread some holiday cheer. You could make your holiday season sweeter with a lemonade stand in your front yard or at your holiday party. Warm your heart with a hot chocolate stand, a seasonal twist on lemonade! Or, plan ahead to warmer days in 2025 by picking a future date for your stand or event. When you register your lemonade stand or other event, the ALSF team will send you a stand kit with tips, resources, and more!

3. Shop with a Purpose

Several companies partner with ALSF by donating a portion of proceeds from their sales to the Foundation. By shopping with our partners, you can support ALSF without spending anything extra. We’ve curated a list of partner products for our annual gift guide that make great presents this holiday season (or any time of year!). In addition to our gift guide, you can shop and dine with all our partners. From a nice meal out with a cup of lemonade to some unique jewelry to stuff in your favorite’s stocking, our full partner product catalog has something for everyone!

4.  Say Goodbye to Your Unwanted Vehicle!

Donate your vehicle to ALSF’s Cars that Cure to fund hours of pediatric cancer research. We accept almost anything with an engine – cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles and more. Complete your donation by December 31 to count it as a 2024 charitable donation! Donating your vehicle to help kids with cancer is easy: Call 855-CAR-ALSF (855-227-2573) or complete the online vehicle donation form. Your vehicle will be picked up, which means no added hassle for you.

5. Become a Monthly Donor

Recognize a tax benefit this year and beyond by setting up a monthly, recurring donation. As soon as you submit your first monthly donation, you become a part of One Cup at a Time Club, a group of supporters committed to ending childhood cancer. The consistent support of monthly donations helps ALSF plan for the future and anticipate which projects can be funded in the year ahead. It also helps you, the donor, plan your charitable giving over the year.

Give Now and Help Children Right Now.
Your gift funds critical research to discover more breakthroughs in treatment, expand access to clinical trials across the country, and support families as they face a childhood cancer diagnosis. Every year, 17,000 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. You can read more about the heroes fighting this disease and how your donation will help create a future with safer, more effective treatments for all kids with cancer.
