alsf's virtual half marathon

By: Trish Adkins

This year has proven that we can do just about anything virtually — even run a half or full marathon on our own course! During The Million Mile in September, supporters went the extra mile (and even the extra 26.2 miles) to raise awareness (and funds!) to support childhood cancer research.

I am literally sweating just thinking about all of those miles!

Here are the inspirational stories from our Million Mile participants who went the distance. And if these amazing stories leave you itching to lace up and run out, sign up for the ALSF Virtual End Childhood Cancer 5K - Halloween edition. (It is sure to be Spooktacular!)

1. Childhood cancer heroes and SuperSibs gave the Million Mile Marathoners a shout out!

2. Joe Phillips of the TIL Foundation 2020 Million Mile team wanted to recognize the marathon of children getting a cancer diagnosis. He watched his own daughter fight it, who has a brain tumor.

3. Boston Marathon qualifier Malinda ran ten, 10-mile runs in September for Childhood Cancer Awareness.

4. On September 30, supporters joined together for a virtual lemonade toast on Tik Tok to celebrate the sweet success!

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is launching a social media campaign inspired by ALSF founder, Alex Scott’s positive outlook in times of uncertainty. We want to know how you are making lemonade out of lemons during this time - whether by learning new skills, getting creative, connecting with family or friends through video chat or doing something else that puts a sweet smile on your faces! Share your special moments with us on social media using the hashtag #MakeAlexsLemonade.
