Hero Ambassadors Spreading the Good Word!

Home » Blog

Every family affected by childhood cancer has a story to tell. Each time a family tells their story, it opens people’s eyes and hearts to the importance of curing childhood cancer. This is the impetus behind Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation's Hero Ambassador Program. Hero ambassadors are often family members of childhood cancer heroes, but our brave heroes also take on the role of ambassadors.

Meet Hero Ambassador Jonathan Nagrant. Jonathan was diagnosed with ependymoma (a type of brain cancer) at the age of 7. He is now a confident 11-year-old and a proud ambassador for ALSF telling his inspiring story of hope at events big and small.

Another on of our heroes, Brady Williams, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma just before he turned 2, but is now a cancer free 7-year-old who recently spoke for the first time at a local school fundraising for ALSF.

Although Brady’s mom noted what a great job Brady did speaking to the large group, the note below from the host at the school truly conveys the impact Brady had on the students:

The students loved Brady because he is in the same age group as the students in our school. He was a very brave boy to stand in front of over 400 children and answer questions about his battle with cancer. Mrs. Williams was also an excellent speaker. She told Brady’s story in a way that that the children could understand. You could have heard a pin drop in our gymnasium as the children listened to story about the type of cancer Brady had, the treatments he received and what his life is like now that he is cancer free. Many parents told us that their children talked about the visit when they got home that evening.

Brady and Mrs. Williams definitely made an impact. They helped the children understand why we were raising money and that children  with cancer can get well. The entire school was inspired to do their best to make our events successful so we could help children like Brady.

Learn more and request a hero ambassador for your stand or event this summer! Whether it’s a family member or the hero themselves, these wonderful families are turning lemons into lemonade by using the power of their experience to make a difference.

Happy lemonade season!
