The kids are back to school, the leaves are falling, and many of us are starting to feel nostalgic as the seasons change. I know every year around this time I think back to my own childhood, what it felt like going to school that first day or the excitement of meeting new friends. For some of us, our childhood memories include cartoon characters, and one of those has joined the battle against childhood cancer this year.
The immensely sweet and popular character Strawberry Shortcake™ has teamed up with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) this September to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer, which affects over 12,000 children in the United States each year. As part of this fun partnership, ALSF and Strawberry Shortcake are enlisting volunteers across the country to host special Strawberry Shortcake Alex’s Lemonade Stands during the month of September (and in the months following too!). Volunteers who sign up to host these special stands will receive a special kit with lemonade vouchers, Strawberry Shortcake materials and the opportunity to receive a Strawberry Shortcake prize pack! It’s just like holding a regular Alex’s Lemonade Stand, but everything had gone pink! One more sweet bonus – for every strawberry lemonade stand registered, American Greetings will donate $50 to ALSF!
Last week we even got some celebrity support when actress Anna Gunn from AMC’s Breaking Bad held a Strawberry Shortcake Lemonade Stand!
We all know how many lives childhood cancer affects, and this partnership is one more way that we can raise funds and awareness while having a good time! To date, over 150 Strawberry Shortcake Lemonade Stands have registered, but our goal is 300. We are halfway there, and we’re halfway through the month! Will you help us reach out goal?
