At 3 years old, Philip Steigerwald was diagnosed with neuroblastoma that wasn't responding to treatment. His doctors told the Steigerwald family that all they could do was prolong Philip's life.
Before attempting surgery as one of the last remaining options, Philip's doctors in Pittsburgh told the Steigerwald family to go see Dr. Yael Mossé at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The family traveled six hours to see Dr. Mossé. When they arrived, Dr. Mossé had two openings left on a clinical trial funded by Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. The treatment included Philip taking a pill. His hair grew back, his appetite came back, he wasn't feeling sick and most importantly, the clinical trial saved Philip's life.
