Our family's support of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation goes back to 2006 when our youngest daughter, Maggie, was diagnosed with an Osteo Sarcoma in her left Tibia - resulting in 18 rounds of chemo and 11 surgeries over the following 10 months - Maggie would also preserver through the ultimate below the knee amputation of her left leg. Although Maggie was familiar with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation prior to her diagnoses, through a neighborhood stand, her focus on giving back and supporting other children and families began in 2008 when she held the first of her 8 lemonade stands in our front yard. We all witnessed firsthand how this effort supported our family's and more importantly, Maggie's healing, over this time period with a true sense of purpose of giving back and supporting others! The real bonus was watching an entire community come out to support our family, this cause and ultimately see the progress Maggie was making and the power of their support to all of us during this challenging time - it took a village! Watching Maggie progress through High School, College and now the "working world" and incredibly ending up on the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation staff is all we could have dreamed of - and something we will always be thankful for and completely support!
