Emilia Rainbow SuperGirl will do for the second year an Alex's Lemonade Stand. Emilia was just 27 month old when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and from there our lifes changed immediately and forever. CHOP became our second home.
It's difficult to describe what her journey looked like. Emilia was almost 2.5 years in treatment and she finished her treatment this year at the end of March. The first year was the hardest and there were just so many unknowns, so many fears and so much sadness. Nobody knew what the next day will look like. She had several appointments a week at the clinic, was almost a total of 100 days admitted to the hospital, she had to have many blood transfusions, countless port accesses and shots. She also underwent 22 lumbar punctures and needed a feeding tube through her nose and much more that a child shouldn’t have to go through. The chemotherapy made her feel so sick and so weak that she lost many motor skills and had to learn it all over again, such as walking. So much time of a normal childhood for her was taken away and she had to suffer too much.
This is why we need to raise a lot of money and awareness to fight childhood cancer. We are fortunate that the right research with the right treatment was there for Emilia and she got through her treatment. But we can never forget that not every child will survive cancer or can stay in remission. There is still so far to go to continue the critical research and support to fight and cure all childhood cancers.
Please help to cure childhood cancer with any small or large donation. Stop by for some homemade lemonade at Emilia’s SuperGirl Lemonade Stand! Or donate over this website.
