When
Emerson was diagnosed with Cancer on Christmas Eve 2019 and passed just shy of six months later from an aggressive Lymphoma.
We were lucky enough to be able to donate some of his cancerous mass to a research facility in Texas to help researchers find less toxic and more effective forms of chemotherapy. I say lucky for two reasons; 1) A lot of donations aren't still alive when they arrive at the facility, especially lymphoma specimens for reasons I do not know. 2) Many research facilities don't accept samples from minors so Emerson's oncologist did extensive research and had to make a case to the research facility to accept his samples since they could be useful since they were such an aggressive sample type.
We do this yearly fundraiser to support cancer research with the hope of improving treatment and reducing deaths for those children currently in treatment and those who will be diagnosed in the future. Alex's Lemonade Stand funds research at the facility where Emerson's cancerous samples were sent! Our goal to raise $2,500 funds one week of research.
