Take your lemonade stand from the front yard to the virtual world with a Zoom Lemonade Stand.
By: Trish Adkins
At Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) our fundamental belief is that a lemonade stand can lead to cures and safer treatments for kids with cancer. Each year, ALSF hosts Lemonade Days, an amazing week filled with lemonade stands in front yards, parks and businesses. Lemonade Stands can also be transformed into a virtual event that brings everyone together regardless of their zip code!
The great thing about a virtual event: you can register quickly and launch your virtual stand in just a few minutes!
Here are eight ways to take your lemonade stand from the front yard to the virtual world:
1. It all starts with registering.
Head to the Lemonade Days page and click register now. The ALSF website walks you through everything you need to do to start a virtual stand within a few minutes.
2. Set a fundraising goal that means something to you.
Your fundraising goal does not need to be gigantic! Just $50 funds one hour of research and $300 is the average cost of a grocery store run for family’s impacted by COVID-19 and childhood cancer.
Whatever your goal — make it meaningful! Any goal you set should be something you can work towards and has meaning to you. Celebrating a milestone birthday this year? Make your goal something related to that number. Have you personally been impacted by childhood cancer? Maybe consider a fundraising goal that reflects the number of days your loved one was in treatment or the years of survivorship.
3. Customize your fundraising page.
Upload photos, tell your story and tell your supporters why their support is so critical. You can also explore all the amazing downloads we have on the ALSF website that you can use for social posts or print out for photo props with your family, showing your ALSF support!
4. Share, share, share.
You’ve got your fundraising page, now spread the news! Share your page with your social networks, post on your personal social media platforms, change your profile link on Instagram to your fundraising page, share with your professional network on LinkedIn, and share in all your Facebook groups. You can also create a Facebook event or an evite to get everyone excited, aware and engaged.
5. Zoom Your Stand.
Pick a day and a time and invite all your supporters to a fun social BYOL (Bring Your Own Lemonade) Zoom call. Everyone can join together for a lemonade toast and a quick hello or you can organize a fun Zoom event for those who donate. You could host Zoom Pictionary or a Zoom trivia contest. Or get inspired by our Tik Tok challenge and teach all your Zoom attendees how to dance!
6. Sell Virtual Cups.
Celebrate your virtual donors that are near and far with virtual Lemonade IOU cutouts (You can download here to email or print and mail).
7. Surprise and Delight your Donors.
Put together lemonade to-go gift bags to surprise and delight your supporters! After they donate online, put together an individual lemonade mix package (Shop for these on Amazon Smile and support ALSF twice over!) with a small bottle of water. Drop off at their doorstep with a thank you note. Or mail the lemonade packets with a thank you note to out-of-town donors!
8. Launch a Coloring Challenge.
ALSF has lots of great downloadable coloring pages and Lemon Artist Emoji Drawing instructions on our website! Share these with your network and ask everyone to color or draw, post a picture of their creation on Facebook and share a link to your stand.
Making Lemons into Lemonade for Kids with Cancer
Lemonade Days is an annual tradition at ALSF which celebrates our founder, Alex Scott, and her call to ask everyone to join the fight against childhood cancer. There are plenty of ways to be part of the lemonade movement – get creative and have fun while supporting research into new cures for kids with cancer.
