My dear nephew Justin Alvarez was diagnosed with a rare pediatric cancerous brain tumor called Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) just days after his 8th birthday. He spent over three long years fighting this GMB with surgery, chemo, radiation, clinical trials, and prayer. Two months after his 11th birthday, Justin won his battle with cancer by going to heaven, filled with peace and love.
Justin may have passed away March 22, 2012, but his legacy lives on. I am competing in the Marine Corps Marathon on October 28 in his memory. While tackling the 26.2 miles, I will be training with Team Lemon. Team Lemon trains for endurance events (like the Marine Corps Marathon), who in turn fundraise for Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
I am asking you to help me with my fundraising, and would be grateful for any amount you can donate. All funds I raise go directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand to support research into a cure for childhood cancers, and to help families that are struggling emotionally and financially with this terrible battle.
I have already paid for all of the travel and registration fees, so you can know that 100% of your donation will go directly to cancer research. Any amount is appreciated, but I would suggest a $26.20 one dollar per marathon mile I’ll be running for me, and for Justin.
Thank you so much for supporting me, Justin, and all of the children in the world who have to tackle cancer.
