PLEASE HELP find cures for childhood cancer, and help the children who have to deal with such a sad and traumatic sickness at a time when they should be free to smile, laugh, and play. Who can possibly see these children and their bravery and not want to help? ALSF was actually started by one of those children, and her courage is at the heart of their mission. Please take the time to learn more about ALSF and what they are doing to help the victims of childhood cancer, and then figure out what you can do to help. Whether that is to make a donation, volunteer, create your own fundraising events... every little bit makes a positive difference.
There's an old Hawaiian tale about a child tossing starfish back into the ocean to save them. An adult comes along and asks why the child why, since there are miles and miles of beach with starfish all along it, and the child can't possibly make a difference. The child picks one of them up and tosses it back into the ocean and says "It made a difference for that one."
That is the same rationale behind this effort to raise awareness and funds for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). A friend of mine brought to my attention a little girl named Ishani and her struggle with cancer. ALSF was mentioned and as I looked into what the organization was all about, I knew instantly that I had to do something to help. So, I am setting up this fundraising page. including references to ALSF and Ishani in my online blogs and web posts, and raising awareness at the endurance events that I participate in (triathlons, marathons, etc.). Maybe it's not much, but with your help we'll just keep saving the starfish one by one.
Thank you for your support!

The race was held Sunday, and Ishani and her family actually came out to cheer me on... that definitely provided some extra motivation! So, I am happy to report that the race went very well and I finished in 1:31:16! For any of you that would like to help the ALSF cause and provide some hope to Ishani and the kids like her, just make a donation of any amount ... thank you!
Austin Marathon on Feb 14, 2010My first race/event as part of Team Lemon! If anyone is going to be out there, look for a short guy with a blue ALSF shirt :)
I'll be out there racing in the bright yellow race tank top and hat. Challenging folks to offer up challenge donations based on how close I can come to beating 40 minutes :)
