It's been 7 years since Mario was diagnosed with inoperable brain tumors . On December 6 , 2007 we heard the worst news any parent could ever imagine . We were told that Mario had 4 inoperable brain tumors which included a huge mass in his brain stem . The doctors told us that the mass has spread to his brain stem so bad that there was nothing that they could do . They told us that he had three months to live ! Our lives changed forever that day . Not knowing what was going to happen to our son was the worst . It was In God's hands . Thankfully after a biopsy the doctors agreed to start chemothapy . They told us it was going to be a long road ahead of us but we didn't care , we had Faith and we had Hope . The chemotherapy was so strong for Mario's body that it made him so sick , his counts were low , his body ached so bad that you couldn't even hug him or lift him up . It effected his hip which caused him to have a  infection in both sides of his hip . He couldn't even walk or sit up . He laid there helpless but never complained ! After the first three months they did an MRI and it showed the mass shrinking ! We were so grateful ! They agreed to continue the chemo since it was shrinking the tumors . After a year and a half they decided to stop treatment since the tumors were stable . Not even a year later another tumor had grown . The doctors started another type of chemo which included no breaks at all . In the meantime his port gets infected that required him to be hospatlized for two weeks due to the severity of the infection . They had to go in everyday for 10 days under surgery to clean it out ! It was so hard for me to watch . Mario never complained , he was always ready and way ahead of all the doctors !! His spirits were always so happy ! We were at the hospital every week for a yr . In between scans anothe tumor stated growing ! He couldn't catch a break , his poor body was getting blasted with so many different drugs that was killing his good cells as well. It's been almost three years now that Mario has been chemo free . He struggles everyday with so many different things which was caused from the chemotherapy . He takes seizer meds , he needs injections every month because he's not growing , he struggles with left sided weakness , vision loss , focusing , memory and learning difficulties . It's an everyday battle but he smiles everyday !! Throughout this hardship Mario has met so many friends at the hospital . The worst thing is that he lost so many beautiful friends to cancer and he fights in their memory . He misses Leah , Jenna , Lenny , John , Christopher , Shayla , Caitlin , Danny & Raechel . He also fights in honor of his hometown heros Maddie Ferris , Jake Talbot and Mary Paschall .
