About Edward Flynn
Edward Paul Flynn, 90, beloved husband of Dorothy (Finan) Flynn, passed away August 7, 2024, at his home in Glastonbury, CT. The youngest son of the late John and Loretta (Sayles) Flynn, Ed grew up in West Warwick, RI.
Ed served in the U.S. Army and then graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He spent most of his career as a nuclear engineer with Combustion Engineering/ABB in Windsor, CT, where he and Dorothy raised their nine children.
He is fondly remembered for his easy-going personality, quick wit, and loving commitment to his family. He enjoyed cooking for his family and all things basketball, especially watching his favorite UConn Huskies. He and Dorothy were true life partners, enjoying 64 years of marriage, living in five different states, and centering their lives on their family. His children and grandchildren remember him as a devoted fan of all their educational, sports, and career endeavors, always the #1 fan! Favorite memories include the many times spent together in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
Ed is survived by his children, Erin Flynn-Blair (Kevin), Marianne Michalek (Tracy), Patricia Hustus (Andy), Tom Flynn (Christine Rua), Jack Flynn (Lisa), Susan Flynn (Tom Kieselback), Elizabeth Scott (Jay), Dan Flynn (Xiaohong Chen), and Margaret Flynn-Khan (Donny), as well his twenty-three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ed was also a loving grandfather to the late Alexandra Scott. He also leaves behind his brother William Flynn and was predeceased by brothers John, Thomas, and Robert “Gus,” and sister Helen. His family will receive friends on August 15th from 4pm to 7pm to at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St, Windsor, CT on August 16th at 11am, followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, 2085 Poquonock Ave, Windsor, CT.
