Hello everyone!
My name is Michelle Mendez and I am a junior-level student at Temple University. Many of you may not know that childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the United States. It occurs regularly, randomly and spares no ethnic group, socioeconomic class, or geographic region. Presently, childhood cancer cannot be prevented. The Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation works directly with doctors, researchers, and nurses to identify the specific challenges they face in bringing new treatments to and caring for children with cancer. I have dedicated myself to run for Team Lemon in the 33rd Annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run on May 6th in order to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to devote my time to raising money towards the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation in hopes that one day childhood cancer can be eradicated from this planet. I run because I can, and I run for those who can't. I reach out to you today in hopes that you too will help fight childhood cancer - one cup or race at a time. :) Every donation is greatly appreciated.
