When
For many years, I've been a big fan of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Alex was the daughter of one of my sales reps when I worked. She was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was one year old. When she was four, she told her parents she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to help other kids with cancer. Alex died at the age of 8 but had raised $1 million dollars by that time. Jay and Liz, her parents, have kept her legacy going strong. ALSF has raised more than $300M since Alex held her first lemonade stand! Here's what they do with the money:
- Fund research at more than 150 non-profit research institutions across the United States, Canada & Europe.
Help families throughout North America by providing travel assistance, so they are able to get to innovative treatments and clinical trials away from their home hospital.
Encourage and empower siblings of kids with cancer with mailings and resources so they can face the future with courage and hope
For many years, Alex has been a source of personal inspiration to me. I am, once again participating in the ALSF Million Mile Challenge. I set a goal of 175 miles this month to raise $2,000 for ALSF. ALSF corporate sponsorships/matches do not count toward my goal, but if your have an employer that does, their matching gifts will.
I feel so blessed that none of my nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews nor great great nieces and nephews have had to suffer this tragic disease. I would appreciate any donation you can make to help these kids and their families.
