Super Kai Guy was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in July 2020. As hard as 26 months of chemotherapy was, we are incredibly grateful that B-Cell ALL has a survival rate of 90% and that Kai continues to be in remission and thriving! There are unfortunately some childhood cancers with far lower survival rates and only brutal life-extending treatment options available. Currently, brain cancers like DIPG have a shocking 0% survival rate. This year, our goal is to raise enough to fund over two days of childhood cancer research to go specifically toward DIPG research. My hope is that eventually childhood cancers like DIPG will have survival rates closer to ALL rates and there will be such a thing as a DIPG survivor.
Every day, there are almost 800 new cases of childhood cancer around the world. This adds up to an estimated 300,000 new cases of cancer that affect children under the age of 20 each year worldwide. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded with less than 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research dedicated to childhood cancers each year.
Today, the money you donate has the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of kids with cancer (and their families). Your donation will fund research into safer, more effective treatments and cures. Thank you so much for your donation!!!
