My Tzedakah project for my Bat Mitzvah, is to support an organization that means a lot to me and my family. Giving Tzedakah, or charity, is one of the many commandments I will take on as a Jewish adult. My Tzedakah project is to raise funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, or ALSF. They raise money for pediatric cancer research. This organization means a lot to me because I am named after my cousin, Max, who was a big supporter of ALSF. Sadly, Max died on April 16th, 2008, two days before my older sister was born. Alex, who started this organization in 2004, was good friends with Max. They endured the same type of cancer and similar treatments together. ALSF funds many of the test trials that my cousin Max tried out during his treatment. My goal is to raise $1800, I hope you’ll join me in helping reach this goal to help support Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
