I'm joining with Team Lemon to help Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation move one step closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer!
I am a 2018 graduate of Providence College, and I am currently in my 4th year of teaching 5th grade in North Attleborough, MA. My students and I came across Alex’s incredible story earlier this year when we were learning about children who have made a meaningful difference in the world. My students fell in love with Alex and knew they wanted to be involved in her mission to change the lives of children with childhood cancer.
I decided to sign up for the Independence Rhode Race (which will be my first half marathon!) in Bristol, RI to begin my class's fundraising efforts. My students decided to create their own candy grams to sell to their 5th grade classmates. They designed a bag filled with Blow Pops and Starbursts with a spaceship shaped tag attached that said “Blow Cancer Out of this Galaxy!” After creating advertisements, pitching their idea to the rest of the 5th grade, and sending home order forms, students got right to work creating over 300 candy grams! On Valentine’s Day, my students delivered their Candy Grams to every 5th grader, spreading smiles and kindness throughout the school. They couldn’t contain their excitement and their passion for Alex’s mission. My students and I were extremely proud to raise money for this amazing foundation!
Alex’s amazing story helped my students learn the magnitude of making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Her story also helped me to create a heartwarming and inspiring learning experience for my students, with life lessons and values that they will continue to share throughout their lifetimes! We are excited to be part of Alex's amazing mission, and you can be too!
Thanks for your support!
