So I just pressed “go” on one of the biggest things I’ve ever committed to in my life. I’m nervous, very scared but mostly hopeful that I will be able to make a difference in the coming year. Just a couple of months ago I learned about Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. These folks raise money for childhood cancer research—research that is very much needed for the kiddos of the world. As I learned more about the Foundation, the grants, the research needed, something resonated with me in my core. I am now bound and determined to do whatever I can to help these folks with their mission.
As such, I have just made a commitment to run 12 races in 2014. Averaging one race a month with the final race being the Cayman Islands 1/2 marathon. I am not what I would consider a runner so this is a huge undertaking for me. I’m not going to lie, there might be some walking, but I will finish every race and hope you will cheer me on along the way.
The running isn’t even the scariest part…the scariest part is my fundraising goal. I wanted to be bold and not let fear in the way. I wanted to make an impact–even though I know every PENNY counts. As such, I have made a fundraising goal of $12,000 for the year. This is where I need your help. Spread the word. Ask your company. Donate as a gift to someone. Donate for no reason at all. What do you get in return? Endless gratitude and post run sweaty hugs for one. A tax write off for you Americans out there, for two. Most importantly you will help save a child’s life.
