Preparing for September has brought out many conflicting emotions for me this year. Last September we raised over $3000 and I was able to celebrate being 15 years Cancer free. I felt as healthy as I had ever been both physically and mentally. This year has been a hard year to be honest. Many changes have gone on in life including a new job, and sadly a new cancer diagnosis. Not using this September to check off another year of health is something I've really struggled with. And even if I hate to admit it, I've been dreading putting together the team this year. However, it just wouldn't be right to miss the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for such an important cause. I may only be 5 or 6 months cancer free at this point, but I'm trying to remain thankful. I know many others who haven't been as fortunate as I have. The memories made on these walks together the past few years have been wonderful and something that has kept me going even on the days where my heart just isn't in it. So I'm hoping we can do it together, step by step and truly make it another September to remember.
