To celebrate Ada turning 5 (on June 8th) and to raise awareness of the awful disease she is fighting, we are hosting a lemonade stand where all the proceeds will go toward childhood cancer research. Ada's big brother and brave bone marrow donor, Oliver is thrilled to lead the effort on this lemon-Ada stand.
Ada was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukemia (acute undifferentiated leukemia) just over one year ago. She endured three rounds of intense chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant from May through September and spent over 100 days and nights in the hospital. She was in remission for a few short months but then relapsed just before Christmas. Since then she has gone through over 5 more rounds of intense chemo including clinical trials at St Jude and St Louis. Her cancer continues to progress so we are trying everything! Her persistence and strength empowers us every single day. She is a true inspiration.
Every day, there are almost 800 new cases of childhood cancer just like Ada's around the world. This adds up to an estimated 300,000 new cases of cancer that affect children under the age of 20 each year worldwide. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded with less than 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research dedicated to childhood cancers each year.
Today, the money you donate has the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of kids with cancer (and their families). Your donation will fund research into safer, more effective treatments and cures. Give today!
