On March 14, 2015, 20 kids from Dublin, OH marched in Dublin's St. Patrick's Day Parade for Alex's Lemonade Stand on Brandonway. We honored our local hero, Alex Davis, a 5th grader at Scottish Corners, with a parade seat of honor in a 1971 VW convertible. I was so proud of the kids when just before the parade started, we were chosen to be the Grand Leprechaun's Choice 1st Place entry. The Grand Leprechaun, who presides over the parade is chosen for his or her commitment and devotion to volunteerism. When the Grand Leprechaun awarded the 1st place prize to us, he explained that it was because we represent what the Grand Leprechaun's are all about. We are teaching our kids about kindness and taking care of one another and that the child who helps someone in need will be rewarded in the happiness that comes from the knowledge that they have done something good. I am grateful to the Grand Leprechauns for recognizing and encouraging the kids volunteer efforts.
