Cures Can't Wait Campaign
Support childhood cancer researchers and families now. For children with cancer and their families, losing precious research means losing time to find new cures, and added stresses mean additional burdens for already overwhelmed families.
About the Cures Can’t Wait Campaign
At Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), we know investing in research and providing support to families is the key to securing the best outcomes possible for kids with cancer and their families. That’s why we’ve awarded hundreds of young researchers with their first pediatric oncology grant, created an innovative, first-of-its kind childhood cancer data lab, and provided support to thousands of families.
In 2020, we have been forced to reduce our impact in these critical areas. COVID-19 has meant the cancellation of ALSF fundraising events, impacting our ability to meet the needs in the childhood cancer community.
Your support of the Cures Can’t Wait Campaign will enable us to fund more innovative research and provide additional families with support.

The Goal
$1.5 Million by June 2021 to support critical research and family support programs
The campaign will specifically support the following areas:
Increase Critical Research
Since 2006, our Innovation Grants and Young Investigator Awards have provided seed funding for the most promising researchers and ideas in childhood cancer. Thanks to our investments, discoveries within childhood cancer research have only accelerated in the recent years. There is real momentum. Without new funding, promising projects may never get off the ground and new, young researchers may not even enter the field. We need your help to spark the innovations and build a research pipeline that will lead to better treatments and more cures.
Every $10,000 funds 1 month of innovative research.
Fuel Big Data Discoveries
At ALSF, we are also invested in accelerating the pace of research. That’s why we started the Childhood Cancer Data Lab (CCDL) — to harness the power of big data to help researchers make more discoveries faster and cheaper. One data scientist at the CCDL can create ripple effects for all childhood cancer researchers.
$200,000 funds a data scientist’s work
Support families in treatment
We also adapt to serve the needs of our community. We created the COVID-19 emergency fund in March 2020 and have already provided grocery support to nearly 2,000 families. ALSF plans to continue this program into 2021, but we need your gift to ensure it can keep helping families.
