Here Are a Few Lemonade Stand Stories to Inspire You to Get Involved
Too!
Also, check out our featured stands!
My daughter, Casey, (age 10 at the time) had
wanted to do something for Alex’s Lemonade Stand for quite some
time. In order to raise awareness (as well as dollars), we decided to
involve as many people from our community as possible. After a few phone
calls to Media businesses, we had received donations for everything we
needed to construct our beautiful stand - from balloons, to ice, to flowers
to, of course - lemonade. The stand did not cost us a dime!
Approximately 25 children from Media Elementary volunteered shifts throughout
the day to help run the stand. The children ran the stand entirely by
themselves. They collected money, gave out lemonade, cleaned, restocked
and, most importantly, eagerly shared Alex's story with those who asked.
They were devoted, excited, loud, and determined to make a difference!
They made up cheers and songs about defeating cancer, and repeated them
over and over the entire day! (Much to the chagrin of our neighbors!)
My daughter had set a goal to raise $300, and many people had told the
children not to be too disappointed when they did not achieve that goal.
(Naysayers!) Their dedication paid off, and I wish you could have seen
their faces when they added up their donation - $1,435!
Every one of those kids asked to do it again, and I received tons of e-mails
from parents of children who could not be there asking when we could have
another stand. Watch for us at the Media Spring Super Sunday - 2007!
Helping Alex's cause was a blessing to all involved.
Thank you,
Lori Bilder
Our daughter Kennedy, age 10 and our son, Connor,
age 12 were given $10.00 from church to use for start-up costs to host
a community service project. They used their money to buy the supplies
to run an Alex's Lemonade Stand during our annual garage sale. They dedicated
their stand in honor of Carson Judd, our friends’ son who in July
2005 (at the age of 2 1/2) was diagnosed and successfully treated for
Helms tumor. They had a blast and plan on hosting again next summer.
Thank you,
Michelle Slavicek
What a wonderful day this was and an honor
to partake in such an awesome event. These girls are the ages of 7 and
8 years old and were ear to ear in smiles knowing that Alex was their
same age and they were carrying on her legacy. Although we had a time
slot of three hours outside of our local Wal-Mart in Spring, Texas, we
made a huge impact on every individual that passed by. We heard stories
and heart aches of those with children that suffered followed by praise
and thanks for being there making a difference. Numerous people stopped
to tell us that we were the best thing they have seen at Wal-Mart in a
long time and to know that we were a part of that is so rewarding. We
thank you for giving us the opportunity and we are looking forward to
our next stand!
Sincerely,
Dessiree Churchill
We invited neighborhood kids to participate.
We had 11 kids in all helping out in shifts through the day, and they
were wonderful spokes people because they understood what we were doing
out there. The day was so successful in getting the message out, that
we plan on making it an annual event with invitations to all children
who want to help again.
Thank you for your continued work,
Erica Harris
This was our 2nd annual Alex’s Lemonade
Century bike ride held in Sun Prairie, WI. The ride was held on July 8,
2006. We had almost 40 riders and raised close to $4000. Along with the
bike ride we had some lemonade stands set up around town and we also had
a raffle.
The day we did the ride was a beautiful day and it was a great day to
spend with the family. Katie helped me sell lemonade and was very helpful.
Having Katie with me helped bring in more people who may have passed by,
but people are drawn in by children, especially when they are helping
with such a great cause. We will help every year, it has become part of
our July plans. Steven was also a great helper that day but is was HOT
out and he was hiding in the shade to cool off.
Sincerely,
Michelle Anderson
Well, our lemonade stand was a great success!
We ended up with 40 gallons of various specialty lemonades donated by
local restaurants as well as cookies.
Ilaria was taking lemonade orders at her special little stand. She had
a blast!

We had a party to celebrate our two sons’
birthdays: Kevin turned 8 on October 25th and Colin turned 4 on October
8th. Kevin was made aware of your charity some time ago, and expressed
an interest in doing something to support the cause. A family friend mentioned
that they had attended a birthday party where donations were solicited
in lieu of gifts, so we mentioned this to Kevin. He was on-board immediately,
and very excited to help. Likewise, Colin was eager to do his part as
well when we explained that we would be helping children that were ill.
This party was attended by Kevin and Colin’s classmates and friends.
We sent out our invitations 6 weeks prior to the event, and utilized the
materials you supplied to make everyone aware of our special cause.
October 21st was the big day. It was a Halloween theme with the attendees
dressing in the costume of their choice. We served lemonade, (what else?),
and plenty of goodies. We started the day with several games, and then
had a “Mad Science” show where the kids learned about dry
ice and other science related interests. The culmination of the presentation
was the launching of a model rocket 50 feet into the air to the delight
of the crowd. Kevin has discussed that day, and what we accomplished for
Alex’s Lemonade Stand many times since then. He is very interested
in continuing his support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand by hosting a
Lemonade Stand with his classmates this spring.
Thank you,
Kevin and Colin's Mom
These children are 5 and 6 years old and in
Kindergarten at St. Luke the Evangelist School in Glenside, PA. We read
the book about Alex a few weeks before the Lemonade Sale, the children
really embraced Alex's story and were anxious to help her cause. Several
of them saw Alex's Lemonade that is sold in stores and brought in the
empty bottles. Our classroom goal for the entire year is to fill every
bottle with our spare change and "pretzel money" and send the
money to Alex. The children made the headbands that they are wearing and
it was their idea to print "I love Alex" on them. They really
do!!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelly Gaynor
Natalie and Nicholas love the lemonade stand
their father built for them. Setting up lemonade stands throughout the
summer is one of their favorite pastimes. They used the money to buy treats
for themselves.
I was looking for something meaningful for the children to do as a way
to give back. I heard of Alex’s Lemonade Stand through a friend
from work. It was the perfect thing for my children to do. After all,
they already had the stand and they were little pros at running their
business.
We went on the website, got the book and immediately started planning
the lemonade stand. We got permission to use town space to set up the
stand. We have hosted an Alex’s Lemonade Stand for two consecutive
years and plan on participating on Lemonade Days 2007.
Sincerely,
Susan Gambardella
We decided to turn our Halloween into a fundraiser
so we spent 6 weeks working on a haunted house for our garage. Alex wants
to be a movie director so he and his dad made many special effects. We
really didn’t advertise much this year because we wanted to see
how it went (just in the neighborhood) but it was very successful as all
the neighbors came and donated money.
Next year we plan to advertise widely and involve other families in making
the haunted house.
Thank you!

This past June, 2 1/2 year old Tony was diagnosed
with neuroblastoma. After reading everything we could about it, we discovered
Alex's Lemonade Stand. Mom bought Tony the Alex's Lemonade kit and book
and we decided to take action. Every year, Tony's grandmother holds a
charity garage sale, benefitting the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation. On September
8, 2006 (6 weeks before Tony's 3rd birthday) we piggy backed onto Grandma's
garage sale and set up our own Lemonade Stand. Tony got right out there
and lent his help and support! He even wore his Alex's Lemonade bracelet
(just like Mommy and Daddy wear). He was so proud to have helped.
Sincerely,
Karen Salerno
Thank you for all your support to our family
while we worked together to organize the Guinness World Records ™
Slide Flute Presentation. And thank you for coming and participating with
us. It was touch and go trying to get the headcount to qualify but in
the end the community came thru for us and for the record we had 196 participants
who played for a little over 8 minutes and 30 seconds. I am proud that
this effort helped to raise over $2,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand
Foundation. I couldn’t have asked for a better Senior Project. The
memories of this fund-raiser will never be forgotten.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Fainelli
The dancers of Leesville Road High School’s
Dance Ensemble and Dance Theater South’s Tour de Force were very
excited to hear about your organization. We wanted to use our artistic
talents to support such a good cause. Inspired by Alex’s story,
we held a benefit.
In our efforts to raise money, we sold ads for our program. At the show,
we had a bake sale selling only Country Time Lemonade and sweet treats.
We also accepted donations and had a raffle. While we were selling ads,
Cold Stone Creamery was extremely generous. They decided to sell paper
lemons that customers could hang in the store for a $1 donation. They
also donated half of their profits from a night of business. Cold Stone
Creamery was able to donate nearly $500.
The show itself was a huge success. The dancers had a great time and were
excited to have another performance opportunity. The audience members
were full of compliments and very eager to help our efforts in supporting
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Fund. Because of the generosity of our audience
and local businesses, we were able to raise over $6400! We are so glad
that we are able to support the continuation of cancer research. We thank
you for allowing us to be a part of Alex’s dream, and we look forward
to contributing in the future.
From the Tour de Force and Leesville Road High’s Dance
Ensemble
We truly can’t thank you enough for
all you do to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Our son, Bobby is
a neuroblastoma survivor. Without the research funds from your foundation
we wonder if we would have been so fortunate—God Bless You!! We
held an Alex’s Lemonade Stand on June 10th and I’m finally
getting some pictures to you. We look forward to doing it every year!
Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts,
The Croyles
