In 1999, one year after he and partner Jeff Benjamin opened their first restaurant, Marc Vetri was named to Food & Wine’s annual roundup of America’s “Best New Chefs.” The magazine was sagacious in its selections; just as Vetri’s star continued to rise, so did that of the nine other up-and-comers on the list with him.

This June, they’re having a bit of a reunion. In honor of the 10th anniversary of Vetri’s Great Chefs Event (the 2015 fundraiser for Alex’s Lemonade and the Vetri Foundation for Children takes place Tuesday, June 9), six other 1999 honorees — Paul Kahan, Suzanne Goin, John Besh, Rocco DiSpirito, James McDevitt and Dale Reitzer — will join Vetri to put on a star-studded dinner at Table 10.

(What’s Table 10? That’s the name Vetri has chosen for the private dining room and kitchen/classroom opened last year on the second floor of the townhouse that’s home to his eponymous Spruce Street restaurant. The main dining room has nine tables, so “[the upstairs table] is, actually, Table 10,” he explains.)

At the special reunion dinner on Monday, June 8, each chef will prepare one course for a lucky group of just 18 people.
