Defer Intermediate sixth-grade students, Kiely Spreitzer and Alex Dabrowski, have been chosen for recognition by the "Kids Making a Difference" program. Kiely Spreitzer was nominated by her homeroom teacher, Michelle Kravetz.
"Kiely is always working hard here at school and outside of school," said Kravetz. "She has continued to take initiative this year with collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House." Collecting pop tabs has been a passion of Kiely's since 2011. Kiely's cousins, 5-year-old Ryland and 3-year-old Jocelyn have both battled brain cancer. After a long road of surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, both are cancer free. Kiely has also raised awareness and funds for childhood cancer by hosting "Alex's Lemonade Stand."
