2008 Kansas City Lemonade Stands for National Lemonade Days will be held on Friday, June 6th and Saturday, June 7th from 10 am to 6 pm at all 25 metro area HyVee Grocery Stores (Missouri: Belton, Blue Springs, Gladstone, Independence (2), Kansas City (2), Lee’s Summit (2), Liberty, Raytown, and St. Joseph; Kansas: Lawrence (2), Leawood, Lenexa, Mission, Olathe (2), Overland Park (3), Prairie Village, Shawnee, and Topeka).
To volunteer, be a corporate sponsor/donor for the Hy-Vee Kansas City Lemonade stands in June, or to hold your own office (eg denim days or lemonade stand) or school event any time of the year, please email Mark or Cheryl Mozer at mcmozer@sbcglobal.net or phone 816-224-8709. Please help us reach our Kansas City goal of $85,000 in 2008.

Mark and Cheryl Mozer of Kansas City, Missouri are the parents of two boys, Nick and Jacob. Jacob is a childhood cancer survivor of Stage 4 neuroblastoma (the same cancer that Alex Scott had). In 2004, their first stand at Hy-Vee Grocery Store in Blue Springs, Missouri raised $5000. In 2007, the total raised during lemonade stands at Hy-Vee grocery stores city-wide, corporate sponsors, and office fundraising events was over $84,000.
Since 2004, over $183,000 has been raised for the Foundation thanks to the dedication of their volunteers, the Kansas City community, corporate sponsors, family and friends of volunteers across the country, and the media in Kansas City. Each lemonade stand has a dedicated Team Leader/Co-Team Leader volunteer who coordinates efforts and recruits volunteers for their stand. An estimated 600 to 700 volunteers participate in running all the lemonade stands each year. The money raised by our Kansas City efforts will be directed to physician and/or nursing childhood cancer research grants at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO and/or the University of Kansas in Kansas City, KS.

Everyone’s hard work has paid off and knowing that this money is going to unique, innovative research to find a cure for childhood cancer makes it all worth while. In addition, we have increased awareness about childhood cancer in our community. Plus, the volunteers have a lot of fun with the event.”
